What is Videomapping ?
Video mapping is a fantastic new technique to create optical illusion using light and projectors to change ordinary everyday objects into magical creations that will blow your mind. You don’t need any special device to experience this technology. With makes it the most accessible of all augmented reality experiences out-there.
Why this website ?
We started this website to inform people about this new technique. This technology lends itself extremely well for use in metropolitan areas. Overlaying the city with a visual layer of light changing the urban landscape dramatically without causing damage to existing structures.Video mapping uses a beamer ( digital projector ) to display digital video graphics onto an building or object. Even though some large cities have already employed this new technique ( Germany being the most leading with this ) Videomapping has jet to break though to the major audience. By informing others about this technique we’re trying to create more intrest to launch this technique in all the major cities around the world.
Can you show me anything ?
Here is a compilation three different projection setups we created to experiment with videomapping. They are rather small one but we wanted to keep things manageable. This will also work on much larger objects but it will take allot more time to set-up. The content and installation were made by Marius Veltman & Richy Wattimena.
Don’t mind the white blocks. We made a new video projection this time with sound. Vincent Harris ( humanimal ) was kind enough to help us out with some samples, check out the youtube movie here.
